We are in the second month of 2022 and already witnessing the new ‘normal’ and adjusting with masks and sanitizers. Covid is still around and many of us have learned to live with it. But still, whenever I walk out and look at strangers walking across, I stumble upon what kind of experience the year 2021 has given them? Someone once quietly said to me, “When I see people all masked up and taking precautions — it could be because they might have experienced something painful that made them follow the protocols for their and everyone’s safety.” And I cannot agree with this, as we cannot know what kind of loss the other person has gone through in their lives.

For me, I am thankful for the year 2021 as it had been rewarding for me and gave clarity in many areas of my life. Out of those matters, there is a lot that I have learned throughout the year that has encouraged my personal and spiritual growth. As I entered this year, I carried all those things with me for my self-growth. Here, I will be unveiling all those learnings that I am carrying forward this year.

  1. Being ‘hopeful’ -

This is one of the biggest things that helped me to thrive as I was sailing through the deepest ocean of my life. There is some kind of magic around being hopeful — trust me. While things were falling apart, I had a kind of hope that the sun would rise to crack the darkness. I feel that being hopeful is a way to stay positive and intrigued with the situations around you. And someone has said that “there is still a ray of hope” — and this is quite true. If we start being hopeful, we could observe the things falling in this beautiful life accordingly.

2. Being grateful for everything -

This is another miracle and believe me it fills your body and soul with much love and great vibes. Honestly, I learned to start being grateful in the last week of the year 2021. Do not worry about what you do not, but celebrate all that you have — and all you want would be given to you. Start being grateful for every small thing and action in your life. We all have something that we want badly, but if you want it then be thankful for what you have right now and it will be given to you.

3. Dream big -

A friend of mine always encouraged me to dream big and craft a way towards it. I keep myself reminded of these magical words. These are powerful words and motivate you at the moment in the most incredible way. It is quite easy to get distracted by smaller challenges in everyday life, but always remember that nothing is as big as your dream.

4. Think big -

Of course, while you are dreaming big then you have to think bigger to uncurl your path to your dream. Open your arms, widen your thinking, take yourself out of your comfort zone, and then follow your intuition. We aren’t given bigger things but to create those by thinking big. There is nothing we humans aren’t capable of.

5. No Stress Therapy -

‘No stress therapy’ always works and does wonders. Being a human we are living in a crowded space that creates stress in a fraction of a second. Have you ever realized — the problem you are pondering over for a month is too worth taking away your mental peace? No way, I have seen many people who have gone through some rough phase but stressing over it still (and the truth is they aren’t even faulty). Stress is nothing but a series of occurrences in a human mind that leads to self assumptions that aren’t even factual.

6. Hold back a little -

We all are running in this life, or is life making us run behind it — what is more relatable to you? However, in both cases, do you know what is rewarding? Holding yourself a little back or stepping back — yes and try to look afar, clear your head and run. Can we treat our lives as a friend or maybe a good wisher? Good friends never leave us right? And so will do life with you. Why I am telling you is to always take a step back to realize where the thing you’re giving your all is taking to you — be it your dream. Taking a step back to look at your milestone will always help you clear your vision.

7. Mental peace is everything -

You are the only one responsible for a good or bad mental health of yours — harsh but true. I understand that there are a few situations that compel us to be weak and affect our consciousness. Most of us are vulnerable — and affected by even a small word, making us obligated to think better. I am wasting most of my time lying in bed and thinking about something that has happened. I become actionless and this is my biggest nightmare. Exercise healthy thinking every other moment — controlling your emotions will help you live your life in a better way.

8. When you feel down, gather yourself to stand up -

Get up and do something — about your life maybe? Humans are prone to fall for negative emotions faster than looking at the positive side of the situation. Do you know, being composed in the toughest of situations is an art? Those who excel at this will happen to live not just a happy life but every moment.

9. Understand the art of life -

Life is an art — don’t you agree? Take it as if you are living a life and trying to carve any figure of it. What would be that? Imagine how you would want to see your life when you become old. Try to make something that you will cherish in your final days, and yes don’t forget to fill the colors — life is beautiful, it is just that you paint it with colors or just make it monotonous.

10. Every step counts in this journey of life -

Always take out time to measure your progress, be thankful to yourself every single day. It is said that taking smaller steps leads you to bigger success. But making smaller progress every day will also help you clear your mind and strengthen your determination. Every step counts and you will make it.

11. Take a moment to inhale and exhale -

Feeling stressed out? Practice inhaling and exhaling — a breathing exercise that will remind you nothing is too anxious to feel stressed out. Whenever something hits that you weren’t expecting — start inhaling and exhaling immediately and see how it goes.

Life is beautiful, it could be tough or twisted, but you’re the one who would shape your own life the way you want. So, start being thankful, do not worry about the future, and begin living the present. Celebrate yourself a bit more than usual because you are special.
